PBV Donates $10,000 To Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation; Support Military Families During ‘Rolling Remembrance’ Event

Pepsi Bottling Ventures (PBV) was honored to participate in PepsiCo’s Eighth Annual Rolling Remembrance American flag relay event to support the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation.

Rolling Remembrance is a nationwide effort to support the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation and help the families and children of our fallen heroes. This campaign, which started in 2015, involves a 14,000+ mile-long relay of an American flag that was once on a UH-60M Blackhawk Helicopter on a combat mission in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2012. The flag relay goes from Seattle, WA, to PepsiCo’s White Plains, New York headquarters.

This year, PBV donated $10,000 to the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation and purchased Rolling Remembrance t-shirts for all its employee veterans. For each shirt purchased, $10 goes towards supporting the foundation.

“PBV is committed to providing opportunities for military veterans and their families and will continue to show its unwavering support in honor of their sacrifice,” said Scott Bell, Chief Finance Officer at PBV and a Third Generation U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. “It’s an honor to participate again in this year’s Rolling Remembrance event. We will continue to value and support this important cause and provide career and growth opportunities for veterans and their families.”

Rolling Remembrance began at PBV’s facility in St. Pauls, NC, with the St. Pauls High School JROTC Color Guard and a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, sung by local student Kathrin Lowry. The flag was then handed over to PBV veteran driver Wayne Sapp who drove the flag from St. Pauls to PBV’s production facility in Winston-Salem, NC. Wayne is a highly decorated veteran who served in the U.S. Army and the North Carolina National Guard. From Winston-Salem, the flag continued its journey to Charlotte, NC.

PBV was the 36th and 37th stop for the Rolling Remembrance event.

About Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation

The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation provides college scholarships and educational counseling to the children of fallen soldiers, helping to ease the burden of families who have already given so much. Approximately 25,000 children have lost a parent in military service over the last 35 years. Through scholarships and educational counseling, the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation helps to bridge the average $25,000 gap between government assistance programs and the cost of a four-year degree that scholars face.
